A few years ago, when I was going through a hard time, I needed a visual reminder EVERY day of how I was going to make it through that hard time. I bought two bracelets with words on them that I could look at every day in the midst of the challenge to remind me that I could make it through a hard time. Since then we've added pieces to GiGisPetals with words that mean things in order to help remind other people that they, too, can make it through hard times, or just remind them to find joy. Did you know that Tourette Syndrome occurs in 1 in 160 (0.6%) school-aged children, although it is estimated that 50% are going undiagnosed. The reported prevalence for those who have been diagnosed with Tourette is lower than the true number, most likely because tics often go unrecognized. TS affects all races, ethnic groups and ages.
We have two kids with Tourette Syndrome. Our second child was diagnosed in 2007 and our fifth child was diagnosed in 2021. Tourette Syndrome awareness, research and support are a big deal to us.
